Evolution of Fortnite pt3
In season 5,6,7 and 8 were all equally the same. A lot happened in each of them but nothing really special to make them all separate. But, season 5 was one of the most game changing seasons because of Fortnite released this game mode called Playground. Playground was a attempt to be a sandbox mode, allowing players to have fun with there friends and mess around the map. But, some players took advantage of the sandbox mode and practice either there aim or their build mechanics to get better. And so the skill level of the game became better and better throughout these seasons. Then in season 7, Fortnite released another game mode called Arena. Arena is a competitively ranked game mode which is a little different then regular battle royal. In arena you can’t hold as many materials to build about 50% less, and plus there’s a point system where you can gain points by either getting eliminations or staying alive for longer. The more points you have the better the players you play against. I always had low points when I played arena since I wasn’t the best at the time and I considered myself as a casual player which means just plays to have fun. To add on to that, in season 7 Fortnite also added creative. Fortnite creative mode allows you to freely create your own world, and publish it to the public for them to play. People very much abused this game mode to its full power by making these cool practice maps to either practice your movement, your aim, your editing or your building. This is where I started to become a little bit better and more competitive. I would get on Fortnite everyday either after school or on the weekends and practice in playground or creative. When season 8 came around I started to see progress in my skill and I started to grind even more.
Ya these seasons were very fun. But they weren't fun like early Fortnite fun, they were more of a competitive fun. At this time you were really seeing skill gaps being created by the creative modes you mentioned. So it was much less of a casual experience because everyone was getting good. However the competitiveness of these seasons really lured me in. Great times.
